The Witch (2015) - This atmospheric and terrifying horror film that takes place in the 17th century of New England is a slow-burning that is a disturbing, tense experience. The horror movie film explores themes such as religious fanaticism and paranoia in viscerally and in a disturbing manner. Director Robert Eggers is masterful, and the performance of the actor cast are all outstanding.

An extremely experimental horror experience, Skinamarink is divisive, to say the least. Officially released in 2023, this looks at most movies described as a "slow burn" and tells them "hold my molasses."

We follow a handful of characters as supernatural events unfold, and... well, that's the whole plot right there. But (blog post) it's really about the journey, not the destination. Or the signposts.
